Welcome to the Year 5 Blog

Welcome to the Tetherdown Primary School Year 5 blog.
As part of ICT in our school we have decided to start a blog. A blog is like an online journal and “blogging” is writing that is done online. Our blog will have posts that are written by the Year 5 children. They will be able to share their writing as well as the different things we have been learning in class. As the blog will be live on the web, parents, peers and even strangers will be able to give the children feedback.

We will be using our blog to help children improve their writing. This can be achieved as children will receieve comments about their writing and will become critical thinkers, learning to edit and improve their own writing. The blog will also create closer links between school and home. Parents will be able to read children’s posts and leave comments.

I’m really looking forward to seeing how blogging develops at Tetherdown. I hope that your children enjoy it as much as the kids at Ferry Lane and I’ll be sure to check back on how you’re getting on. If you want children from FL to comment on your work, just let me know.

What a great idea Mrs. Cohen. Blogging is a great way to improve writing. I think I am going to do this with my Y6 class too. Good luck Year 5! My Y6 class will check out your progress in a few weeks.

Really looking forward to seeing what’s going on in y5 as they don’t tell me anything about that’s going on their classrooms now that I no longer teach them.
Good luck with this exciting new outlet for you expressiveness.
We in y4 will hope to follow your example.
    Mr Evans
